About Me

My photo
Its day 1 of 2013. Will this be any different than yesterday? That depends on the actions I take today. I struggle with many health problems, I teeter on the edge of self-destruction, can I pull myself back? My life is broken, and I need to find the strength and courage to fix it. My physical, spiritual, and mental states are in shambles from years of addiction and self abuse. Food is my main drug of choice and it is killing me. My body is slowly breaking down due to the food abuse. If I have any hope of seeing tomorrow I need to start taking actions now. I welcome you to follow me on this journey as I struggle to find my way, to silence the demons within me, and find peace and serenity in my life. I can do this IF I am willing to put the work into it. I will share my trials and tribulations, success's and failures. Perhaps I can find a way to save my own life, and if it can help someone else with the same struggles, it would make it all the better This will be a chronicle of my journey to better health, better life, and happiness.

count on me.7.17.13

Good morning

Yesterday went well.  I was abstinent.  I contact Phil before and after 3 meals, snacks were ok
Today I am going to a rock concert.  I did my meal plan and I am set.  If anything arises I will contact Phil.  I do not know if my phone will work at the concert venue.  My meals should all happen before or after so that should not be an issue.  I will not eat any food sold at the venue unless an emergency arises, I do not see that happening.  I will take snacks and water with me, there is no reason to eat anything aside from them.

Goals for the day
Pray
Submit meal plan (done)
Pray before and after my meals
Text Phil before and after my meals
Pray
Be of service where I can
Do something for my recovery every hour

Ghost of Days gone by.7.16.13

Good morning

I was abstinent yesterday.  I followed my meal plan and I contacted Phil before and after all 3 of my meals.
I asked Phil’s guidance on a rock concert I am going to on WED and he shared with me what he did in similar situations and it was very helpful.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day.  I’ll get up about 4 am, go to work.  Go home and get packed to leave about noon.  If I am lucky I'll get a short nap in the afternoon and head over to the concert venue about 6.  We will be in there for 6-8 hours.  It’s going to be a bit challenging but I feel it’s doable.  I will take my own snacks into the venue.  Being diabetic and needing meds and other things I am allowed to take a bag in with me, normally those are forbidden so I feel grateful at that.

I will have 4 meals and 2 snacks tomorrow instead of my customary 3/2.  This is due to the length of my day.  I’ll be up about 20 hours or so.  All meals/snacks will be planned out unless something totally unforeseen comes up, I do not anticipate anything like that.

Goals for the day
*Pray
*submit meal plan (done)
*pray before and after my meals
*text Phil before and after my meals
*pray
*be of service where I can
*do something for my recovery every hour; I will use the alarm/calendar on my phone to help me with this.
*pray

Life.wont.wait.7.10.13

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me.  My food was decent enough.  I stayed away from things I should not have, there was a little temptation.

I need to incorporate exercise into my plan, I get some just by lugging around all the weight I carry, but I need to start doing more.  I also need to start getting back on track using my sparkpeople page and myfitnesspal.com and my phone app.  These help me to keep my food in perspective.

I was up late last night so I slept in till the last possible minute.  I did not start my day with my usual meditation and prayer.  I will go do that when I am done here.  I was going to go back to bed, however now that I am up I might as well stay up and try to accomplish as much as I can today.

Life has changed and all I had to do was stop trying to run my world and trust in something greater than myself, and listen to people who have come before me.

Have a great day

Greg

Slip sliding away.7.8.13

Hello
I had a bit of slip yesterday, I found myself putting chips in my mouth.  Chips are one of my trigger foods and not something I should be having.  I didn't eat as many as I usually did so that was a small victory.  I have to be more on my toes and reach out for help when these things happen.  I cannot continue to let these little slip ups occur, there is no reason or excuse for it.  I know better and I need to either pray or reach out for help.  The rest of my day went well.

Report.7.6.13

I had a good day yesterday.  It was busy and I didn't keep to my plan as much as I would have liked too but I didn't overeat yesterday so I count it as a victory.  Its going to be super hot again today, I just need to stick to the plan and do the work.

A day of independence.7.5.13

Hello
I hope you had a good 4th of July if you were in the US and I hope you had a wonderful Thursday in whatever part of the world your in.

Yesterday was a good day for me.  The food did not win.  I could have done better on some fronts however in the grand scheme of things I did a pretty decent job.

I did have a taste of soda and a taste of dessert that got on my finger as I was packing it up for other people.  I cannot allow slips like this to happen very often, I do count yesterday as a victory through.  Last year I just said the hell with it and ate whatever I wanted.

I didn't put together a meal plan for yesterday which was dangerous for me to be doing, but regardless I had a decent day.   It was a deposit in the reclaiming my life account.

Have a wonderful day!!
